The Bio of German Lopez aka Genycis

In 1999, German Lopez began to delve into the art of making hip hop beats. Very novice in his work at the time, German began learning the technique of breaks, melody, form, and content. Only armed with a Cakewalk program, he began to dish out beats and started to lure in the masses over time with some of his complex melodies and beats.  He would devote time to studying by ear, various techniques and compositions.

In January 2003, German became familiar with a program called Fruity Loops. It was at the start of the year of 2003 that he became more familiar with even deeper techniques of making beats. With his adept ability to learn things quickly, and a few people online to help him, he began to make even tighter beats, and started to attract more of a crowd to the beats. Learning and using things such as compression, reverb, chorus, flangers, and other effects, VST's, and other plugins, the beats German started creating became mad vicious. He would learn to use Reason as well, but would stick to FL.

It was at the start of January 2003 that he gave himself the name Genycis, as genesis meaning "the coming into being of something", or in his case, the coming into being of a new era in hip hop, spelled as  Genycis with the inflection of NYC in the middle of the name, to represent his hometown of NYC. At that point, armed with a variety of sounds, soundfonts, drum sounds, VST's, and the ever so hated Fruity Loops Studio 4, Genycis strived harder and harder to bring in the masses with his beats.  At the midpoint  of 2003, Genycis had over 100,000 streams of his beats on soundclick, has made #1 on Soundclick with his hit beat "Mad Vicious" for 9 straight days, has also made top 10 with 3 other beats, and has managed to draw in more than a big crowd of people who likes the beats he brought to the crowd. He featured a beat with up and coming artist SK1, along with other project collaborations.

In 2004, Genycis worked on a few more projects. One of these projects was with an up and coming artist known as "Greg E". Together, these two planned on the release an underground album, though plans were unfortunately changed due to personal family reasons.  Discouraged, Genycis continued to push forward.  He then worked with a few other underground artists on the side, some of which go by "Rezewar Dawgz", "MC Total Chaos", and "LyrikzRP" out in NYC.  Genycis has also continued to try to perfect his beats with even greater techniques, though learning that the form is an art, and that the potential to perfect music is more than likely non-existent.

In late 2004, Genycis ventured into the audio sound creation aspect of the scene.  He has created an assortment of instrument sounds in the soundfont format.  Though different in quality in comparison to  the raw WAV format, the soundfont format proved to work wonders in replicating an instrument without using a larger amount of PC resource, making for easier beat creation without technical drawbacks.  In the midst of making and selling his own soundfonts and sound packages which will be beginning to kick back under way onto the website in the very near future again, Genycis has had his eyes open to different opportunities and avenues.

Though further personal family setbacks interfered with his progress throughout parts of 2005 and 2006, he has continued to push forward in his desires even into current 2009, beginning to once again network with more artists such as an artist known as L.S. who has pushed forward with his lyrical skills throughout Virginia and Charlotte, NC, as well as another artist by the name of G-Syn also in Charlotte, and other up and coming artists and projects.  He has also revamped his website, www.genycis.com, and plans on adding beats constantly, and has created a website as well to sell sounds to those who make beats as well, at www.SoundsForBeats.com.  As he enjoys creating new beats as an art and passion, he also enjoys creating new sounds to use in his own beats, those of which he has decided to sell on his SoundsForBeats.com website.

Genycis continues to pursue networking with other talents and avenues, as well as continuing to create more beats and sounds for sale.  The latest project that Genycis is working on, is with two singers, not related or working with each other.  One is a talented vocal singer known as Amma Johnson, who is releasing her second album for 2009.  Her website is www.ammajohnson.comShe is a singer and songwriter, creating beautiful and inspirational songs, and gospel ballads.  Another singer goes by Frank Santiago who is part of Likwid Stoan.  They are also a talented artists and demonstrate their talent on their Myspace page at www.myspace.com/likwidstoan where he, along with his partners, are putting together a project of their own as well.  Genycis has also worked with a promoter for a famous bar / club promotion website, www.baroptic.comThis project is still in works currently.  He is also in negotiations with other artists and singers as well for different projects, and continues to generate listens to his beats and page, as listed by stats of Soundclick, who shows that his beats have been played over 248,000 times, as well as play hits on beats he's added to www.mybeatshop.com/genycis which over a three month timeframe, has generated over 2,000 plays with under 25 beats listed.
