How Can I Become A Rapper - Four Important Things You Need To Have

How can I become a rapper - if you love hip hop and always wanted to pursue it, I'm sure you've asked this question to yourself probably a thousand times before.  You may have listened to Jay-Z songs, songs by Drake, Mobb Deep albums, or Ludacris albums, and felt the influence of their music pushing you to want to become a rapper.  Perhaps the hip hop beats themselves influenced you as well.  You wouldn't be the first person influenced by rap music in a way that pushes you to want to become what you enjoy listening to time and time again.  So the question from earlier still looms in your mind, jabbing away:  How can I become a rapper?  To answer that question, I have written four tips below that can help.

Confidence - If you already exude confidence, then you've managed to get the first step down packed.  Okay, I don't mean arrogance, I mean confidence... simply, confident to grace an audience when delivering your rap lyrics to the masses.  Confidence within yourself also means feeling strongly about your written work, unless you plan for a ghost writer to write your rap lyrics for you.  However, I personally feel that part of the fun of being a rapper is writing your own material.  Confidence within you also means not feeling like your voice is not something you want to hear.  Funny enough, most of us do NOT like the sound of our voice to an extent, especially if we're singing or rapping, so confidence is key.  Bottom line is, how can I become a rapper if I'm not even confident in myself to do it?

Delivery - Part of being a well recognized rap artist is to simply deliver your lyrics with charisma, with assertiveness, with a certain swagger and charm that will make the listeners say "damn, that was deep" or "I have to hear more of what this rapper has".  And delivery plays a big part in your persona as well.  If you can perfect your delivery and sound aggressive, assertive, and again, like you have confidence in yourself, people will flock to hear what else you have in store for them!

Writing Skills - how can I become a rapper if I have nothing to rap about?  Okay, key to that one is learning how to write.  Do I mean writing like a 10th grade English assignment?  No.  What I refer to writing is simply, how to rhyme and write in a way that delivers your message and a certain swagger to the listener.  Write like your heart and soul is into what you're wanting to speak about, whether it's something positive, or rap lyrics about someone who crossed you the wrong way, whatever it may be.  Make it interesting, don't repeat the same words over and over again, and make sure it sounds like you.  Don't rhyme sounding like a Dr. Seuss children's book... not every word has to rhyme after all.

Powerful Hip Hop Beats - So how can I become a rapper if I don't have any beats to rap over?  This point often creates another question:  Where do I get rap beats or hip hop instrumentals from?  As far as where to get beats from, you can easily check out a variety of the beats available at Genycis.com in whatever style of rap you want to pursue and be a rapper of.  As far as how to use beats for rapping, you really need to try to stay in rhythm of the beat.  Try to hear the beat for a moment first to get a feel for where the changes are, how long a verse is, how long the hook of the beat is, and then go with that.  Remember, you're not trying to rhyme every single word at the end of each set of lyrics, but you do want to create a flowing rhythm with the beat itself.  This takes practice, but if you listen to enough rap songs, and listen to the beat, you'll excel at it.

So how can I become a rapper?  With the above four points under your belt, you should be on your way.  Remember that with any skill learned, it takes practice, persistence, and above all, desire and determination.  Write some music, record a verse or even a few lines on your PC or even on a cell phone, and play it back to yourself, and let yourself improve.  While it can be very hard to become a rapper in a professional standpoint, you can make your own name and style and share it online, building your reputation as you proceed with it.  Much success to you!  And remember, if you do buy hip hop beats from Genycis.com, be sure to credit Genycis and the website in your work.  Now get to work on some lyrics... your calling awaits!
