When you think of Michael Jackson, so many words come to mind.  People of our parents' generations loved him, people of our generation enjoyed his music, people of our children's generations now have been told of him.  When you hear the name Michael Jackson, you can't help but have the words "icon" and great music come to mind.

Whether you're an upcoming musician, singer, beat maker, producer, or an avid listener of music, you know who Michael Jackson is.  Singers have sung songs he's written.  Musicians have worked and collaborated with him.  Producers have created instrumentals for him.  Listeners continue to enjoy his music even to this day.  Michael Jackson is and will forever be, the Icon and King of Pop Music.

Today, on June 25th, 2009, less than an hour ago from the time I write this blog, the Icon, the King of Pop, sad to say, has passed away at the young age of 50 due to cardiac arrest.  He was reported to be in a coma for a little while before finally passing.  This is indeed, an event, like September 11th, where most will remember where they were, or what they were doing when they saw or heard the news that he had died.

Michael Jackson has had his share of problems, heavily amplified by the media.  Yet, even through the rough times in his life, the allegations of child abuse, the comments of his disease and illness, the stories about his Neverland home, and even drama brought up about his children and other personal family comments made, Michael always seemed to keep a calm and collected attitude about everything.  He was heavily respected, and admired by fans all across the globe.  He has always appeared to be a man of dignity and a caring person as well.

With numerous albums, hit songs, sold out concerts, awards won, and other credits to his expansive profile of achievements, Michael Jackson is without question, an icon and a strong figure of music as a whole.  From having cartoons based on him, to being in movies, performing special dance moves such as the Moonwalk that always remind us of him, and so many other items and memorabilia created after his image, there is no doubt that he will always be remembered.
